Rich Text Notes

Comment line text can be enhanced by using Rich Text formatting features. These features can be used, for example, to highlight important instructions to production staff.

The font type, size and colour can be set to the whole text, or just to specific words or sections. Similarly, text can be made bold, underlined, or italicised.
Rich Text features can also be applied to Bill of Materials Notes and Bill of Materials operations Notes.

Note: Rich Text formatting can be used in Sage layouts, but this requires the layouts to be produced using Crystal Reports instead of the standard Report Designer.

To apply rich text features, highlight the section of text to format, then choose from the Rich Text formatting options:

Font Style : Select the preferred font style from the drop-down list.

Font Size : Select the preferred font size from the drop-down list.

Bold : Click to set/unset the selected text as Bold.

Italic : Click to set/unset the selected text as Italicised.

Underline : Click to set/unset the selected text as underlined.

Font Colour : Select the preferred font colour from the palette.

Analysis codes are extra pieces of information that can be added to Bill of Materials. Each analysis code has two parts; a Code for the type of information and a value, or set of Values, that can be applied to each item.

Before setting Analysis Code values on BOM Components, the analysis codes must be setup in Accounting System Manager and then assigned for use by BOM Components in the Maintain Component Analysis Codes screen.

BOM Component Analysis Codes

For BOM Components, analysis codes are useful as a way of classifying component items to distinguish between them; or as a way of recording additional information about each component.

For consistency, and to eliminate duplication of effort, if any Analysis Codes used in BOM Components are also used in Stock Item Analysis Codes, then the value in the Stock Item will be automatically copied into the corresponding BOM Component Analysis Code as the component line is added to the BOM.

The Field Label can be set to a different name, which sets the Name that is displayed on the BOM Component Analysis codes screen. Changing the field label will not affect the Analysis Code value copying from the Stock Item to the BOM Component line.
Once analysis codes are setup for BOM components, use the Analysis Codes tab on the maintain BOM Component screen to set values on each BOM component.

Select Mandatory if all your BOM component lines must use this Analysis Code. To make an Analysis Code mandatory, you must have specified a default value for this analysis code in Accounting System Manager.

Note: Although analysis codes in Stock Control can be configured as a specific data type, such as a date or a number, this setting is not enforced in Bill of Materials.

Therefore, if an analysis code value for a component is copied from its stock item record it can be changed in the BOM to any value, even if the linked analysis code is set as a specific data type in Stock Control.
