Routes Tab

Use these settings to choose how to process and manage additional features from Cim200.

A Route is a set of operations that comprise a built item’s manufacturing process.

Without Multiple Routes enabled, the operation details are setup in the Operations tab of the Bill of Materials screen.

Where the build process for manufactured items can vary depending on conditions at the time, enabling Multiple Routes allows for more than one set of operations, or route, to be setup for a Bill of Materials. Then the appropriate route can be selected for each Works Order.

If Multiple Routes is enabled, the Operations tab is replaced with a Routes tab, and operation details are setup within each route.

Adding a Route

Open: Bill of Materials > Records > New Bill of Materials | Routes
Open: Bill of Materials > Records > Amend Bill of Materials | Routes
Open: Bill of Materials > Records > Amend Bill of Materials (Elevated Privileges) | Routes
Open: Bill of Materials > Records > View Bill of Materials | Routes

Note: The View Bill of Materials option allows you to view the BOMs but not amend them.

Click Add to add a new Route. The New BOM Route window appears.

Editing a Route

To change route details, select the route and click Edit (or you can double-click on the route line).

Deleting a Route

To delete a route, select it from the list then click Remove. You cannot remove the default route; another route must first be set as the Preferred.

To switch the Preferred setting from one route to another, select the route and click Set As Preferred. Click Yes to confirm the change.

Enter a Reference and Description for the Route. If this will be the preferred route, tick Is Preferred.

Each Bill of Materials can only have one preferred route; if this is not the first route entered for the Bill of Materials then making it preferred will move the Is Preferred setting from an existing route. If it is the first route for the Bill of Materials then it will be made the preferred route automatically.

Note: The preferred route will be the default route when raising new Works Orders, but an alternative route can be selected during order entry.

For BOM Costing and Trial Kitting, and MRP Recommendations the default route will be used.
Works Orders created from Sales Orders or MRP will be set to use the default route, but can be amended to a different route after creation.

1. Add operations in one of the following ways:

Add from Operations Register

  • Click Add From Operations Register.
    The Select Operation(s) window appears.
  • Select the Reference of all the items you want to add.

Note: You can reduce the items displayed in the list by entering the first few letters of the Reference. For example, entering BA will list all operations that start Ba.

  • Click OK.
The Reference, Description and Type of all selected items are displayed in the operations list.

Add New Operation

  • Click in the Add button and select Add New Operation.
  • The Operation Record window appears for you to enter the operation information for the BOM.

Note: This operation will only be available for use in this BOM.

2. Irrespective of how you add operations, you may want to change the operation details. To change operation details, select the operation and click Edit (or you can double-click on the operation line).

The Operation Record window appears.

3. Add or edit comment lines.

4. Add or edit document links.

5. To delete a line, select the line, click Delete Line and confirm that you want to do so at the prompt.

6. Click Resequence to apply the default sequencing of numbers to the components and confirm that you want to do so at the prompt.
Components are resequenced based on the default BOM resequencing settings.

Note: If the default is to resequence in stock code order and the list contains a combination of component, document and comment lines, the comments are grouped at the top of the list, followed by documents, followed by component lines in stock code order.

7. In the Timings area the Setup time displays the total setup time for the route. The Runtime time displays the total runtime for the route.

8. To save your Route details, click Save.

9. The route is added to the Routes list, displaying reference, description, total calculated Setup time, total calculated Runtime (for the specified Quantity per run), and indicates the preferred route.
