Enter New Repeat Make for Stock Record

A Make for Stock record is a way to trigger production of built items where there is no firm demand such as a Sales Order, or higher-level Works Order, as an alternative to setting a reorder level.

Make for Stock records are not processed; they need only to be recorded and released.  Once released, MFS records are included by Demand Schedule and MRP in their lists of demands.

MRP can then produce Make recommendations which can be actioned into Works Orders to produce the required stock.

As an MFS demand is actioned in MRP into a Works Order, a link is created between the Works Order and the MFS demand.  Once the Works Order is complete the MFS record is automatically updated to a Completed status.

MFS records can be created individually as one-off demands, or as repeat demands.  Use this screen to create Repeat demands.

Before you begin

Ensure you have setup the Planning module as required for Make for Stock records:

  • Go to Cim200 Planning > Utilities > System Set Up > Maintain Planning Settings | Make for Stock to configure settings for new Make for Stock records.

Open: Cim200 Planning > Make for Stock > Enter New Repeat Make for Stock Record

Open: Cim200 Planning > Make for Stock List View

In the Make for Stock List, select the New Repeat Record button above the list view.

  1. Click into the list to start entering details.
Code Type or select the built item Code to be used.
Name Displays the name of the item selected.
Version Displays the version number of the Bill of Materials to use.
Reference Prefix When entering new Repeat MFS records, if Auto Generate MFS Reference is not enabled in Planning Settings, first enter the Reference Prefix, which must be unique. If the setting is enabled, this field is not available.
Quantity The quantity to make for each MFS record in the series.
Warehouse The location to make the item into.  If the option for Use Multiple Locations is not enabled in Stock Control, this will default to HOME.
Unit The unit of measure for the quantity to make.
Ignore Stock and Inventory Policy Tick to force MRP to recommend the exact MFS quantity.  This setting will default from Planning Settings but can be changed for this series.
Mark all items as ‘Released’ Set the status of each MFS record in the series.  Do not enable this if the new MFS records are not ready to be planned; new records will have status Entered and the Demand Schedule will ignore all records in the series.

When the status is set to Released, Demand Schedule will include the MFS demands.  The status can be changed to Released later, when ready.

First Due Date The due date for the first demand. This will be used by Planning as the demand date, and in turn as the due date for any resulting new Works Order recommendations.
Frequency For calculating the due dates for each MFS record in the series, set the interval between each one.
Number of Times Set the number of MFS records to be created.  The due dates for each will be calculated using the First Due Date and the Frequency; all other details will be the same for every MFS record in the series.
