Open: Cim200 Works Orders > Utilities > System Set Up > View Works Order Settings | General

Use these settings to choose how to process and manage Works Orders.

Note: The View Works Order Settings option allows you to view the settings but not amend them.

Select from the following settings:

Allocate Stock

Component stock allocation is an optional process for Works Orders. It is useful as a basis for reserving stock to an order, and for printing a material pick list.

Tick Allocate Stock to include an allocation step for component usage, which allows stock to be optionally allocated before it can be issued. If this option is not enabled, stock cannot be allocated to the Works Order.

Auto Pick Traceable Quantities on Allocation

If traceable components are in use, tick this option to have Sage automatically assign the traceable number(s) when allocating stock to a Works Order.
Traceable numbers are assigned based on the fulfilment method defined in the Stock Order Fulfilment screen.

Auto Pick Traceable Quantities on Issue

If traceable components are in use, tick this option to have Sage automatically assign the traceable number(s) when issuing stock to a Works Order.

If the component has an allocation, the allocated traceable numbers will be issued first. If the quantity issued is greater than allocated, or the component is not allocated, traceable numbers are assigned based on the fulfilment method defined in the Stock Order Fulfilment screen.

Allocate/Issue as much as possible by default

When allocating and issuing stock to works orders, the quantities to allocate/issue will be set automatically if Allocate/Issue as much as possible by default is enabled.

1. In the Allocate Stock screen, with this option ticked, Sage will try to allocate the full quantity required, or the maximum quantity available if there is a shortage.

  • If Auto Pick Traceable Quantities on Allocation is not enabled in Works Order Settings, the traceable numbers for any traceable components must be assigned as the screen is opened (if opening from the list), or the order selected (if opening from the menu).
  • If this option is not ticked, the quantities to allocate for each component must be set by the user.

2. In the Issue Stock screen, with this option ticked, Sage will try to issue the full quantity required (if Allocate Stock is not enabled in Works Order Settings), or the allocated quantity (if Allocate Stock is enabled) for each component.

  • If Auto Pick Traceable Quantities on Issue is not enabled in Works Order Settings, the traceable numbers for any traceable components must be assigned as the screen is opened (if opening from the list), or the order selected (if opening from the menu).
  • If this option is not ticked, the quantities to issue for each component must be set by the user.

Note: This setting does not apply to the Issue Stock by Stock Item screen.

Allocate Non-Stock/Bulk Issue Items

Only available if Allocate Stock is enabled, this setting determines whether Miscellaneous type items and bulk issue items are displayed in the Works Order Stock Allocations screen.

  • If the option is ticked, all components are visible on screen and the quantity to allocate for Miscellaneous and bulk issue items can be managed by the user .
  • If the option is not ticked, these items are not visible on screen but are instead automatically allocated in full when an allocation is completed.

Note: Although they are allocated and issued to the Works Order in the same way as a regular stocked item, allocating and issuing bulk issue and Miscellaneous items will not affect Stock Control; only the Works Order itself is updated.
Costs for Bulk Issue items are posted to the Works Order. Costs for Miscellaneous items will post to the Works Order if Include miscellaneous costs is ticked in BOM Settings.

A Works Order can be Completed and Closed even if it has Miscellaneous items which are not fully issued; however the cost of the unissued items will not be included in the Works Order costs.

This setting does not affect the Works Order Stock Issues screen, on which all components will be displayed and quantities to issue can be managed by the user.
